3D Hyperuniforme optische Materialien

Finanzierung:
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) ;
The framework of hyperuniformity provides novel concepts to systematically capture and evaluate disorder. However, the theoretical foundations of hyperuniformity were only introduced in the 2000s and a comprehensive understanding of hyperuniformity is still in its infancy. This accounts not only for its theoretical aspects, but especially its experimental aspects. Only few experimental works have been accomplished so far, of which most only looked into 2D systems. Moreover, almost all previous works relied on non-scalable fabrication of hyperuniform disordered structures, which strongly limits potential applications. Novel physical properties predicted by theory, such as isotropic photonic band gaps, rely on bulk hyperuniform materials. Thus, experimental research in this field needs to step from 2D HuD metasurfaces to 3D HuD metamaterials. .
