JPI Oceans and JPI Climate joint transnational call on Next Generation Climate Science in Europe for Oceans;

Aktualität:
bis 01.01.2020
Fördergeber:
Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung
This Joint Call focuses on oceans and climate, using observations and Earth system models in order to address the following topics:
1. Strengthening our understanding of climate variability and extremes resulting from the interactions with the oceans such as extratropical and tropical cyclones, and how they are affected by climate change on a range of time scales.
2. Improving the representation of air-sea interactions, physical and biogeochemical ocean processes in Earth System Models to better represent small-scale non-linear processes as well as water, energy and carbon cycles. Model-data analyses using innovative approaches will be welcome.
3. Improving estimates of climate change induced modifications of ocean physics and ocean chemistry, associated with biogeochemical cycles, including ocean acidification and carbon sequestration.
The Joint Call will be supported by funding up to 8.1 Mio from the following Research Funding Organisations (RFOs): Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), France Belgian Science Policy office (BELSPO) German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT), Portugal Ministry of Education and Science (IZM), Latvia Marine Institute (MI), Ireland Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca (MIUR), Italy Norges forskningsrad (RCN), Norway Icelandic Centre for Research (RANNIS), Iceland*
*Participation pending final decision
Eligibility criteria: Proposals should address one Topic only. Furthermore, parts of a project cannot be submitted twice to a topic; Each consortium must be composed of eligible independent entities from a minimum of three countries involved in the Call through their Funding Organisation; All partners in a consortium must strictly adhere to the funding rules of the Funding Organisations which they request support from (see Funding Organisation rule annex); Proposals must be submitted before the deadline; Proposals must meet all formal criteria set for the call (submitted electronically, respect pagelimits and number/type of attachments allowed, written in English language); The initial project duration is up to 36 months. It may be extended subject to each Fun-ding Organisation s specific rules and procedure; A researcher is allowed to be Lead Project Investigator (LPI) of only one proposal; The Lead Project Investigator must be eligible to be funded by one of the Funding Or-ganisation;
