The "RheumaMining" project aims to identify early signs of treatment failure in rheumatoid arthritis to preserve patients' mobility and quality of life. The core focus is on developing novel biomarker combinations capable of accurately predicting disease progression and the risk of worsening symptoms. These biomarkers are intended to optimize the therapeutic window and prevent irreversible damage. Once identified, the biomarkers will be transformed into digital markers using machine learning techniques and enriched with patient data, such as daily health records. Based on this foundation, practical tools will be developed, including a laboratory test and the decision-support system "RheumaDSS." This system integrates digital markers with smartphone apps, providing general practitioners and patients with critical insights into disease status and precise forecasts to enable timely therapy adjustments. By recognizing risks early, treatment strategies can be improved, reducing the likelihood of mobility loss and work incapacity. The project leverages immunological, clinical, and informatics expertise and is implemented in phases: from data collection to biomarker analysis, validation, and practical application.
