The research project is focussed on the modeling and analysis of heterogeneous cell populations. The first aim is to construct a biologically meaningful computational model for cell population dynamics from an assumed underlying gene regulatory network and specific growth dynamics, taking into account heterogeneity of the cells and stochastic changes on a slow time scale. As a second aim, the developed model class should form the basis for the development of computational methods that allow to reconstruct the cellular heterogeneity and other biological parameters from typical biological measurements.
