Alterations in a panel of serum biomarkers precede the development of microalbuminuria in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2
Among participants of the ROADMAP (Randomized Olmesartan And Diabetes MicroAlbuminuria Prevention) initial and observational follow-up (OFU) studies, we will test whether a panel of 20 serum biomarkers at baseline are associated with the development of new onset microalbuminuria during follow-up. A case-control design was used with inclusion of 65 patients with microalbuminuria and 86 controls from the ROADMAP and 102 patients with microalbuminuria and 107 controls from the ROADMAP-OFU cohort.
