The main objective of this PhD project is the optimisation of novel vanadium-based high temperature materials. In terms of the mechanical properties the aim is to balance high temperature strength and creep resistance while satisfying ductility at ambient temperatures.

Based on fundamentals from the field of physical metallurgy and materials science, alloying concepts should be developed. The project will include ingot and powder metallurgical processing, microstructural analyses, and mechanical testing at different temperatures.
