Experimentelle Pädiatrie und Neonatologie

Frau Prof. Brunner-Weinzierl forscht über molekulare Mechanismen der adaptiven Immunantwort. Seit ihren Forschungsarbeiten mit James P. Allison (Nobelpreisträger 2019) in Berkeley, beschäftigt sie sich mit "Immuncheckpoint" Therapien bei der Tumorabstoßung. Weiterhin interessiert sie sich dafür, wie Immunpathologien bereits in der frühen Kindheit angelegt werden (z.B. Allergien) und wie das Immunsystems von Kleinkindern Infekte abwehrt. Derzeit koordiniert sie ein BMBF-gefördertes Konsortium über Immunabwehr von Sars-CoV-2 und das Magdeburger Teilprojet in einem BMBF-geförderten Verbund über Long COVID-19 bei Kindern.
Von 2016 bis 2020 war sie gewählte Prorektorin für Forschung, Technologie und Chancengleichheit und leitete die entsprechenden Bereiche der OVGU. Seit 2020 ist sie Mitglied im Beirat des Gesundheitscampus der Med. Fakultät, OVGU.
