Novel methods are developed for casting the way micro-scale processes are described in discrete models (Monte Carlo) into the formalism of macro-scale population balance equations. Such scale-transition techniques allow for both, computational efficiency and physically based modelling. Aggregation as well as breakage processes are considered, along with background numerical tools.
