The aim of the project is the development of an interactive neuroprosthesis for the auditory cortex. Instead of a fixed stimulation protocol an interactive neuroprosthesis dynamically adapts its stimulation strategy based on an evaluation of the ongoing activity in the nervous system. With this novel approach we aim at a realization of a true functional stimulation of the auditory cortex and hence the neuroprosthetic therapy for patients with functional lesions located central to the auditory nerve.
