Introduction:
Sequential conditioning regimens (SR) were developed for the treatment of patients with relapsed/refractory acute myelogenous leukemia (r/rAML) aiming in optimizing the anti-leukemic effects by combining conventional chemotherapy with early and timely allogeneic effects while sparing the toxicity of additional pre transplantation conditioning. The Acute Leukemia Working Party (ALWP) of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) assessed the outcome of patients with r/rAML undergoing allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) after sequential conditioning, comparing results of six SR groups.
Patients and Methods:
Patients were grouped according to the type of SR used into six SR groups: FLAMSA-TBI4, FLAMSA-Chemo, Mel-Flu-TBI8, Mel-Treo-Flu, Thio-ETO-Cy-Bu2-Flu and Clo-ARAC-(Bu2/TBI4)-Cy. The primary endpoint was leukemia-free survival (LFS).
